An Open Letter to the Watts Township Community from Rowan CEO Charley Daitch
October 7, 2026
Dear Watts Township community,
I want to introduce Rowan Digital Infrastructure to the Watts Township community. My name is Charley Daitch and I have the honor of serving as the CEO of Rowan. We’d like to begin an open and constructive conversation about a proposed sustainable data center in Watts Township.
We know projects like this raise important questions about growth, infrastructure, and the future of a community. We also know that trust is earned. That’s why our first commitment is simple: to listen, share information openly, answer questions directly, and engage with residents throughout this process. Leading a company like Rowan is a privilege that comes with a deep sense of responsibility to ensure that the communities we partner with come out ahead.
The reason we’re exploring this opportunity now is because the demand for digital infrastructure continues to grow rapidly, and communities across the country are being asked to consider how that growth should occur. We believe Watts Township has an opportunity to help define what responsible development looks like for every other community across the country.
We’re very proud to propose a multi-million-dollar contribution — a Community Benefits Agreement (CBA) for Watts Township. These are dollars that can be spent where the community needs them most: on local parks, community centers, emergency services, and so much more. If we’re able to move forward with a project in Watts Township, resident input and feedback would be absolutely necessary for a CBA to be successful.
In that spirit, should this project move forward, we anticipate holding a series of listening sessions to better understand the community’s priorities. We’re aiming for the first session to be held in November. A confirmation of the date, time, and location will be posted on our website soon, where you can also provide input and ask questions of our team: www.rowan-watts.com.
Rowan believes that community partnership is something that happens throughout the entire life cycle of a project. It should be built into the process from the beginning. We have a proven track record across the country of deep community engagement, hosting public meetings and webinars, regularly meeting with neighbors and local stakeholders, providing multiple avenues for community feedback, and working to incorporate that feedback into project planning.
We believe transparency is not just good communication. It leads to better projects. Our goal is not simply to build in Watts Township. Our goal is to become a long-term partner that understands and respects the priorities of the people who live and work here.
That same philosophy guides our approach to sustainability. Rowan was founded on the belief that digital infrastructure can and should be developed more responsibly. We have focused on raising standards for environmental performance, efficient use of resources, and thoughtful community investment. We believe data centers can enhance national security and promote economic opportunities while respecting the communities that host them, but that outcome requires intentional effort and accountability.
In the weeks ahead, we look forward to sharing more about our plans, hearing directly from residents, and working with the Township leadership to determine whether this opportunity is the right fit. Whatever the outcome, you have my commitment that Rowan will approach this process with transparency, respect, and a genuine willingness to listen.
Our team is available to you. Please do not hesitate to reach out to our community affairs team if you are curious or concerned about how this project might be built. We have published a website with a map, FAQs, and contact form: www.rowan-watts.com.
Sincerely,
Charley Daitch
